Illuminating Insects In a Jar
The sun shimmies behind the horizon, gently folding into night
As magic skirts the emerald carpet, luring them with light
A boy blurs into man, on a hunt for something more
A man softens into boy, revisiting the child laying dormant in his core
Adventure flits around them, a soft illuminating glow
Delighting and enticing, the two into their show
The choices they must make in life’s complicated maze
Quietly dissolve into a distant haze
As a mother and a wife I long to hold their burdens at bay
To capture this magical moment in jars, forcing it to stay
But their radiance within, was not forged for temporary bliss
My men were created for even more than this
Each was given to the other, to cast upon him light
A reflection of their purpose, a reminder of what’s right
I resist the urge to twist the lid, repressing all they are
I peacefully release them to the heavens brightest star
He gave them wings to light the dark for more than just ol’ me
In the brilliance of their purpose they are truly free
